Biography/Research Profile:
The goal of my current research is to contribute to the development of a quantitative framework for the understanding of gene regulation in eukaryotic organisms. Using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model eukaryote and the galactose utilization network as a well-understood gene regulatory network, I am working towards the development of a dynamic model of the regulation of the genes involved in galactose utilization. Using multiple, spectrally distinct fluorescent proteins, I will track the activity of various promoters that drive the GAL genes. Using time-series data, I hope to build on previous models and move towards a more quantitative, dynamic framework for describing the circuitry of this regulatory network.
